Aprilia's British MotoGP Dominance Exposes Ducati's Struggles

Silverstone witnessed Aprilia's supremacy at the 2026 British MotoGP. The Noale factory delivered a perfect weekend, clinching pole position, the sprint win, and the grand prix victory, while Ducati struggled and failed to reach the podium in either race.

Jorge Martin was sensational, breaking the lap record in qualifying and winning the sprint. However, in the main race, it was his Trackhouse teammate, Raul Fernandez, who dominated and took his first grand prix win. Martin still leads the championship, but Fernandez's success underlined Aprilia's collective strength.

The result means all four Aprilia riders have now won a grand prix in 2026. The Italian manufacturer even celebrated a 1-2-3 finish in both races, a rare achievement that highlights the RS-GP's superiority on fast circuits like Silverstone.

On the other hand, Ducati had a tough weekend. Alex Marquez came close to third place on Sunday but couldn't find a way past a determined Marco Bezzecchi on the second factory Aprilia. This failure widens Ducati's gap in the title fight.

Even more concerning is Marc Marquez's form. After cutting the championship lead to 18 points before the break, his deficit has now grown to 40 points after finishing ninth in the sprint and seventh in the grand prix. His physical condition, still not 100%, is exposed by fast right-hand corners.

Aprilia's edge comes from superior aerodynamics and rear grip in high-speed corners, while Ducati, usually strong, struggled to find balance.

Aprilia's success signals a shift in MotoGP's power dynamics. With Martin leading the championship and Fernandez becoming consistent, the 2026 season is set to be even more exciting. Can Ducati bounce back at the next round?
