Aprilia Dominate Practice, Bezzecchi Breaks Silverstone Record

Marco Bezzecchi smashed the Silverstone lap record by nearly a second to top the second MotoGP practice session of the British Grand Prix weekend. His 1m56.280s lap left the previous best—set by Fabio Quartararo last year—far behind, an extraordinary leap in performance.

The record-breaking lap came right at the chequered flag. Bezzecchi, returning from injury after his crash in qualifying for the German GP, looked strong from the morning session and unleashed his pace in the afternoon. He outpaced Trackhouse Racing's Raul Fernandez by 0.335s, with two Aprilias at the front—a clear statement of the Noale factory's dominance at this fast circuit.

The session also showcased the depth of Aprilia's lineup. Championship leader Jorge Martin led early but had to settle for fourth, while Trackhouse's Ai Ogura took fifth. Four RS-GP bikes inside the top five highlighted how competitive the package is now.

The only Ducati in the top five was Fabio Di Giannantonio of VR46, who took third. The Marquez brothers finished sixth and seventh, with Marc ahead of Alex. Joan Mir (Honda) and Jack Miller (Pramac Yamaha) rounded out the top ten, securing direct Q2 spots.

Not everything went smoothly. KTM faced more trouble as Pedro Acosta crashed for the second time today, yet he still managed to sneak into the top ten and make Q2. His teammate Brad Binder also fell at Turn 7. Worse, Pecco Bagnaia crashed at the same corner and missed out on Q2—a heavy blow for the Ducati rider in the title fight.

With Aprilia's dominance so clear, Sunday's race promises to be intense. The pressure is now on Ducati and Yamaha to respond, while fans eagerly await the battle among the rivals.
