Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola has openly admitted that the Noale manufacturer's ambition to defeat Marc Marquez and Ducati in this year's MotoGP championship battle is the most difficult task the brand could possibly face in the premier class.
The championship battle has tightened dramatically heading into the race weekend at the Mandalika International Street Circuit. Jorge Martin still holds the championship lead for Aprilia, but his advantage has been slashed to just two points over the charging Marquez as the pressure reaches boiling point.
Aprilia has never secured a premier-class riders' crown in its history, while Marc Marquez enters the weekend as a nine-time world champion alongside Ducati, which has claimed the last four consecutive constructors' and riders' titles.

"How difficult is it to beat Marc? The answer is I think it’s the most difficult task we could have," Rivola said at Mandalika on Thursday, as reported by Crash.net.
Rivola revealed that his comments from last year served primarily as an internal message to boost company morale and make the team believe in their own potential. Having proven capable of winning on select weekends this season, Rivola acknowledges that maintaining that performance until the final round remains a massive question mark.
"The fact that we are fighting for that is already a big satisfaction because I think that we are fighting the best possible couple, Marc and Ducati, that we’ve seen in many years. So the fact that we are there means we did a great job inside Noale," Rivola concluded.
