The challenging period currently faced by Pecco Bagnaia in the 2026 MotoGP World Championship has drawn serious attention from former Borgo Panigale factory rider Andrea Dovizioso. The Italian rider's performance has plummeted after narrowly missing out on a third world title, sparking widespread concern throughout the paddock.

Dovizioso, who spearheaded the development of the Desmosedici bike and famously fought for the championship against Marc Marquez in 2017, admitted he is deeply unsettled by his fellow countryman's current body language and overall demeanor. He noted that the ongoing crisis extends far beyond mere sporting dissatisfaction, weighing heavily on the rider's mental state.

Speaking on a new podcast via his YouTube channel, the 15-time premier class race winner shared his troubled perspective regarding Bagnaia's situation. The behavioral patterns and statements coming from the two-time world champion have left the veteran deeply concerned.

"His behaviour and what he says scares me a little," Dovizioso stated while discussing the rider who will transition to Aprilia at the end of the year. "I just hope he doesn’t experience racing like that, because I can see in his eyes that he’s really suffering."

Deep-seated technical complications have triggered Bagnaia's slump, beginning with front-end confidence issues aboard the GP25 machine throughout the 2025 campaign. Entering 2026, the struggles shifted toward a persistent lack of rear grip not experienced by any other Ducati riders, leaving a handful of third-place finishes as his peak results so far.

Factory engineers have attempted to turn the tide by introducing unconventional solutions, a strategy previously highlighted by former Jorge Lorenzo crew chief Ramon Forcada. Nevertheless, even these drastic technical interventions have failed to unlock the competitive potential needed to reverse the downward spiral.
