Almansa Wins at Silverstone, Moto3 Title Race Heats Up

David Almansa delivered a stellar performance at the 2026 British Moto3 Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday. The Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP rider claimed his second win of the season after leading most of the race, despite intense battles at the front.

Starting from fourth on the grid, Almansa wasted no time in taking the lead, but the pressure was relentless as the lead changed hands and the front group swelled. He fought his way back to the front in the closing laps, capitalizing on the in-fighting behind him to build a gap.

He crossed the line 0.701s ahead of Alvaro Carpe from Red Bull KTM Ajo. This victory marks his second of the season after winning the opener in Thailand, before injury and illness interrupted his strong start.

The fight for the remaining podium places went down to the wire. Carpe ran wide on the penultimate lap and dropped to the back of the group, but he pushed aggressively to recover to second, aided by teammate Brian Uriarte's late crash at Brooklands. That left the way clear for Carpe to secure his tenth podium in the class, still short of a first win.

Adrian Fernandez was sitting third, but Valentin Perrone from Red Bull KTM Tech3 launched a huge lunge at the final corner to snatch the final podium spot. Fernandez had to settle for fourth, still the top Honda.

Behind them, Joel Esteban impressed from 13th on the grid to finish fifth. Joel Kelso from home team MLav Racing took sixth, ahead of top rookie Rico Salmela.

With this result, the Moto3 title fight is tighter than ever. Maximo Quiles still leads with 231 points despite missing the race due to injury. Carpe moves to second with 145, while Almansa closes in with 134.
