Alfa Romeo has unveiled the Luna Rossa special edition, which now sits at the top of the range for the Junior, Tonale, Giulia, and Stelvio models. The launch coincides with the second America's Cup 2027 preliminary regatta, set to take place in Naples from September 24 to 27. For automotive and motorsport enthusiasts, this move underscores Alfa Romeo's ambition to deliver high-performance vehicles with an exclusive touch.
The Luna Rossa edition is far from ordinary. Each model receives a dedicated red Alfa Romeo logo, a color palette inspired by the Luna Rossa yacht—white, black, grey, and red—along with bespoke exterior and interior personalization. The Junior and Tonale feature a new grey shade, Glossy Black accents, and 3D Knit seat upholstery, a first for the Stellantis group. Meanwhile, the Giulia and Stelvio boast carbon fiber and premium interiors with ECONYL fabric, a regenerated nylon sourced from recovered fishing nets.
The partnership between Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa goes beyond sponsorship. Alfa Romeo contributes its expertise in simulation, vehicle dynamics, and virtual analysis to support the sailing team. Moreover, it is assisting in writing and fine-tuning the control software for the circuits that operate the sails. This highlights a technological synergy between the automotive and competitive sailing worlds.

Pricing for the Luna Rossa edition starts at i37,800 for the Junior, i48,950 for the Tonale, i71,250 for the Giulia, and i73,350 for the Stelvio. Orders in Italy open on September 25. As for powertrains, the Junior offers hybrid and electric options, the Tonale is available in all variants including Plug-In Hybrid Q4, while the Giulia and Stelvio come with a 2.2 turbodiesel engine producing 160 or 210 hp, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive or Q4 all-wheel drive.
For the European market, Alfa Romeo will roll out this edition progressively across all countries. This aligns with the brand's strategy to strengthen its position in the premium segment. By leveraging the Luna Rossa name, synonymous with world-class competition, Alfa Romeo hopes to attract consumers seeking performance and an exclusive lifestyle.
In an increasingly competitive automotive industry, cross-sector collaborations like this set a brand apart. Alfa Romeo is not just selling cars; it is selling an experience and prestige. The Luna Rossa edition is proof that racing heritage and competitive spirit still flow through the brand's DNA.
The arrival of this special edition is also a key moment for motorsport fans to see how technology from racing and sailing can be applied to road cars. Alfa Romeo reminds us that innovation never stops, whether on track or at sea.
