Alex Rins has shocked the MotoGP paddock with a firm decision: he has turned down the opportunity to move to WorldSBK and will instead end his two-wheel racing career to pursue a highly intriguing new project. The announcement came on the eve of the Misano round, marking a new chapter in his life after 14 years in grand prix racing.

Rins, currently riding for Monster Yamaha, revealed that he had two offers from WorldSBK but found something more motivating. "I will not go to Superbike next year," he said. "As I told you some races ago, I have a really good, really interesting project in mind that I can't reveal yet because it's not done 100%. I'm really happy."

This decision means Rins will not join Jack Miller, Brad Binder, and Franco Morbidelli in moving from MotoGP to WorldSBK next season. Rins emphasized that it was not an easy choice. "For sure, it was difficult to choose, because all my life in MotoGP, in this championship, many fights, many races, many wins for 14 years, more or less. So yeah, I will stop with two wheels," he added.

Rins is known as a race winner with Suzuki and Honda. He also grabbed attention with a victory at LCR Honda. Now, he is ready to step into a new world that has yet to be revealed. "I really want to say thanks to them [WorldSBK], because they were quite interested in me. But I found another thing that really motivates me more," he explained.

Rins's decision leaves a big question mark among fans. What is the project? Will he switch to four wheels, become a team manager, or perhaps venture into business? Clearly, Rins is enthusiastic and confident in his choice. "I'm really happy," he stated.

For Yamaha, losing Rins is a blow, even though he has not delivered his best performances this season. However, Rins has shown speed and valuable experience. His move to a new project will be a surprise, given that he is still at a productive age for racing.

With this decision, Rins follows in the footsteps of several riders who chose early retirement to pursue other passions. We await the official announcement of his new project. One thing is certain: Alex Rins will always be remembered as a rider who challenged the MotoGP elite.
