Drama unfolded at the Indonesian Grand Prix as Yamaha MotoGP rider Alex Rins was captured giving a marshal the middle finger during a heated exchange at the Mandalika circuit. The flashpoint occurred towards the conclusion of Friday afternoon's practice session following a late crash for the factory rider.

The incident was triggered when Rins suffered a tumble near the end of the session. Under current MotoGP regulations, if a rider's engine cuts out during a crash, they are strictly prohibited from restarting the machine at the side of the track and must instead head directly toward an escape road. With barely two minutes remaining on the clock, Rins had no realistic opportunity to get his motorcycle restarted and rejoin the active track session.

Footage shared on social media by a local motorcycle influencer captured Rins riding on the back of a marshal's scooter as he was being transported back to the paddock area. However, his journey was abruptly interrupted when two other marshals intervened, sparking a heated verbal confrontation while the original scooter driver appeared to protest against his colleagues' actions.

Visibly irritated by the delay, Rins climbed off the scooter and threw a middle finger gesture in the direction of the group of officials before securing an alternative ride back to the garage with a trackside photographer. The exact rationale behind the initial decision by the marshals to stop his transport remains unclear, and the rider opted not to address the confrontation during his post-session media debrief.

According to Crash.net, the altercation was not referenced in the end-of-day FIM stewards' official notes as an active topic of investigation, leaving it uncertain whether the panel was aware of the footage. Nevertheless, any form of abuse directed at track marshals is treated with extreme seriousness by race officials. Yamaha teammate Fabio Quartararo faced fines and sporting penalties for similar misconduct in the past, while Aprilia's Marco Bezzecchi was handed a suspension earlier in the season following a physical altercation in a gravel trap.
