Alex Rins has revealed his hope that a track marshal will also issue an apology following a controversial incident at the Indonesian Grand Prix that shockingly sparked death threats against the premier class competitor. The factory rider was caught on camera giving a marshal the middle finger after the official refused transport back to the paddock following a crash on Friday afternoon at the Mandalika circuit.
The incident unfolded when the Spanish competitor suffered an off-track excursion during practice. He subsequently explained that the marshal initially told him to board a scooter, only to abruptly retract the offer and refuse transport, prompting two other marshals at the scene to protest the sudden decision.
Although the incident generated substantial controversy across the paddock, the Yamaha representative publicly apologized for his visible frustration, while simultaneously revealing the disturbing reality of receiving severe death threats from online supporters in the wake of the altercation.

Addressing the media, including Crash.net, following the Grand Prix weekend, the rider moved to definitively draw a line under the episode. "Was a big chaos," he told reporters. "Nothing to say. I already apologised. I hope, I hope, that the marshal also apologised because it was a really extreme situation. But I mean, we don’t need to lose time on this. And that’s all."
FIM stewards promptly summoned the rider for a hearing on Friday evening to review the paddock altercation, resulting in no official sporting penalties or grid sanctions being issued for his actions on the ground.
Attention quickly shifted toward the severe technical limitations faced during the gruelling 27-lap main race at Mandalika, where he crossed the finish line in a dismal 15th position, trailing more than 31 seconds behind the race leader.
Technical grievances centered heavily around inconsistent engine braking and erratic traction control behavior throughout the entire grand prix distance, compounded by severe thermal degradation on the Michelin rubber.
Discussing strategic decisions inside the pit wall, the rider admitted a strong personal preference for the soft compound tire after positive warm-up indications, though he ultimately deferred to the engineering crew's firm recommendation while maintaining frustration solely toward the machine's inherent performance deficit.
