The battle for the MotoGP world championship has intensified as the season enters its final five rounds. Marc Marquez currently trails Jorge Martin by just two points at the top of the standings following a demanding weekend at the Indonesian Grand Prix.

Even though Mandalika has traditionally proven to be a tough venue for the multi-time world champion, he managed to secure a victory in the sprint race and a damage-limiting sixth-place finish in the main grand prix. Meanwhile, his championship rival maintained solid consistency by finishing fourth and third across both contests.

Viewing the Indonesian round as a pivotal moment, his younger brother and Gresini rider Alex Marquez noted that his older sibling successfully navigated through a difficult territory alive. Both contenders walked away from the weekend with 22 points apiece, keeping the championship battle wide open.

However, the real test awaits at the remaining circuits, particularly in Australia, Qatar, and Portugal. Alex pointed out that these venues historically favor competitive machinery like the Aprilia, meaning his brother will need special defensive and offensive riding skills to stay in contention.

"He saved it, without a doubt," Alex Marquez said in Indonesia. "I wouldn’t call it a victory, but he came out alive from a difficult circuit for him; a draw, 22 points each. The title fight will be very open, even though we’re now getting to circuits like Australia, Qatar and Portimao, especially where the Aprilia can do very well. Marc will have to pull off those tricks of his."

Aside from on-track battles, the topic of team orders has also surfaced in the paddock as manufacturers evaluate their title aspirations. With multiple riders mathematically still in the mix, tactical decisions from management are anticipated as the season nears its climax.

Alex believes that while rival factories are already discussing strategy, Ducati will eventually implement similar tactics when the time is right. For now, he feels it remains a bit too early to rely on team orders until the final showdowns dictate the absolute necessity.

"Well, it's clear that Aprilia has quite clear ideas; they want the title, and they're talking to all the riders," the Gresini rider said. "So, I think the time will come for Ducati to do the same, but it's still a bit early, even though there are a few races left, and once we're there battling every Sunday, we'll evaluate everything."
