Fermin Aldeguer revealed the emotional side of his first MotoGP victory in Indonesia. For him, it wasn't just euphoria—it was an outburst of pent-up anger. Aldeguer admitted that while he can release everything on the bike, off it, things aren't always fine.
In a video released by MotoGP, the Spanish rider recounted a year that started brightly before a major injury struck. “I started January very well, at a peak in my career, and then a big injury made me stronger,” he said. He added that on the bike, “I let out all the euphoria, everything, and I'm okay, but then in my daily life I'm not so okay.” According to him, not many could endure what professional riders do. “I think few people could handle what we do one hundred percent. We're from another planet,” he stated.
Aldeguer's love for racing stems from his father, a motorcycle enthusiast since childhood. “At my baptism, he gave me a mini bike, a replica of his own. My mother had given it to him for their wedding, and I inherited it.” Speed became natural. “I inherited speed and racing is my natural habitat.”
The journey to MotoGP was not smooth. “It hasn't been easy. Maybe not the path everyone takes, but in the end we're where we always dreamed and that's what matters,” he recalled. He felt fortunate to join a top team with a competitive bike. “I could say I landed in the best place, with the best bike, and the best team. That helped me get good results in Indonesia.”
The victory at Mandalika Circuit was special. Aldeguer described it as an outlet for stored anger. “More than enjoying it, it was an outburst of rage,” he said. He admitted to going through many tough moments, and that win was a validation of his hard work.
The rider, now with a satellite team, also highlighted the importance of family support. “Family is everything. They're always there in the hardest times,” he added. With the result in Indonesia, Aldeguer is growing in confidence for the rest of the season. He is determined to keep improving and score more podiums.
The win in Mandalika not only boosted his championship position but also gave the team a morale lift. Aldeguer is now one of the young riders to watch in MotoGP.
