Alex Albon has confirmed his future with Williams by signing a contract extension that will keep him at the team until the 2027 season. The announcement puts an end to speculation about the Thai driver's future amid the current Formula 1 driver market frenzy.
Since joining in 2022, Albon has been a cornerstone of Williams' resurgence. He recently broke the record for the most Grands Prix contested for the Grove-based squad, surpassing legend Nigel Mansell. His consistency and dedication have made Williams confident in securing one of the best seats on the grid.
This certainty also addresses the big question mark in the Williams garage. While speculation about Carlos Sainz's future continues to circulate, at least one side of the garage is now secure for next season. Albon will serve as a benchmark for his teammate in building the team's performance.

In a statement, Albon expressed his pride in continuing the journey with Williams. He emphasized that the team's transformation in recent years has been extraordinary and that he is motivated to keep pushing the team back to the front. "One tough year doesn't tell the full picture," he said, reaffirming his commitment to building together with the factory and the fans.
Team Principal James Vowles welcomed the extension, calling Albon a leader of the transformation project since day one and one of the best drivers on the grid. "We have plenty of unfinished business that we are determined to achieve," Vowles said, showing full confidence in the direction the team is heading.
With this new contract, Williams demonstrates its long-term ambition. The move also provides much-needed stability for the team amid upcoming regulation changes. Now, attention will shift to the second seat, where Sainz's future remains an intriguing puzzle to follow.
