Supersport World Champion Albert Arenas has unexpectedly found a second golden opportunity to secure a competitive seat in the World Superbike Championship for the 2027 season. Despite dominating the Supersport class in commanding fashion for Yamaha, the Japanese manufacturer was unable to offer him an immediate Superbike promotion due to pre-existing contracts.
Yamaha previously proposed a two-year deal for Albert Arenas featuring another year in Supersport in 2027 followed by a guaranteed Superbike seat in 2028, alongside five dedicated test days on the 1000cc machine. However, the Spanish rider politely declined the offer because he refused to spend another season away from the premier class.
"I am taking the risk to find what suits my future best. I do not want to ride in Supersport for another year, also because of my age. I want to develop, so I have to be brave," explained Albert Arenas regarding his bold decision to walk away from Yamaha's developmental pathway.

Although his management held exploratory talks with Chinese manufacturer CF Moto regarding their upcoming WorldSBK debut, signing that deal would have meant sitting out racing entirely for a year as a test rider. The landscape shifted dramatically ahead of the Jerez season finale when the Go Eleven squad emerged as a prime destination.
Backed by substantial increased financial commitment from Italian snack brand Pata, enabling Go Eleven to field two Ducati Panigale V4R machines for the first time in 2027, all strong indications point toward the 29-year-old Spaniard leading their premier class charge next year.
