Adam Morgan showcased his dominance once more in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) by securing his second victory of the Donington Park GP weekend, and his third in the last two meetings. This win further cements his impressive form in the 2026 season.
Chris Smiley, who last tasted victory at Rockingham eight years ago, started from pole position thanks to the grid reversal. However, Morgan, in stellar form, applied pressure immediately as the lights went out. Smiley managed to hold his position through Redgate, but a fierce battle ensued in The Esses. Morgan eventually took the lead at McLeans, followed by Aiden Moffat and Dexter Patterson who also passed Smiley.
Smiley's misfortune worsened after contact caused him to half-spin at Melbourne, dropping to seventh before getting back past Ricky Collard and Ash Sutton as they made contact. All the fighting at the front allowed Morgan to streak two seconds clear of Moffat. To make matters worse for Smiley, he had to retire early due to a misfire, joining Dan Rowbottom who had also been given a 10-second penalty.

On lap six, Collard and Sutton engaged in battle, with Collard running wide and suffering a puncture, while Patterson's hard-compound Audi started to drop off. Aron Taylor-Smith moved up to third on the same lap. With clear space ahead, Morgan continued to charge and extended his lead to over four seconds by mid-race. Daryl De Leon also impressed by overtaking Patterson for fourth, then passing Taylor-Smith on lap nine, showing the pace that had been missing from WSR during the Donington Park GP weekend.
Gordon Shedden, who had dropped down in Race 2, was flying high in fifth, with Sutton chasing behind. On lap 13, Sutton attempted a pass around the outside of Shedden at Melbourne, and succeeded at Goddards, completing the move at the first turn of the final lap.
Morgan took a convincing victory, followed by Moffat in second and De Leon completing the podium. Taylor-Smith finished fourth, Sutton fifth, and Charles Rainford stole sixth from Shedden at the end. Josh Cook finished eighth, with Tom Ingram and Patterson rounding out the top ten. Mikey Doble had a strong drive to finish 11th, with Lewis Selby, Ryan Bensley, Sam Osborne, and Dan Cammish as the final points scorers.
This win further solidifies Morgan's position at the top of the standings, and he is clearly the favorite for the title this season. With consistent performances, Morgan seems unstoppable at Donington Park.
