Ahead of the penultimate round of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Alessandro Pier Guidi has opened up about Ferrari's steep mountain to climb. Driving the number 51 499P alongside his crew, he sits 30 points behind the championship leader with only 52 points left on the table across Spain and the season finale in Monza.
The mathematical equation leaves very little room for error. Pier Guidi admitted that the reduced race lengths this season effectively shortened the championship, making up-and-coming points recoveries much harder than in previous campaigns.
"No, quello che ha detto James e la realta dei fatti, specialmente avendo di fatto ridotto di una gara il campionato," explained Pier Guidi in the paddock, emphasizing that the primary issue is not just the points gap, but the sheer number of competitors stacked between them and the title lead.

Frustrations linger from the unfortunate pit stop mishap at COTA while they were leading the race, compounding earlier missed opportunities at Spa. Now, as the team tackles Friday's practice sessions on an abrasive and unfamiliar Catalan track, the objective is absolute perfection to salvage their title defense.
