Formula 1 heads to the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix as Round 17 of the season, with the full weekend taking place at the Marina Bay Street Circuit from October 9-11. Friday, October 9, opens the weekend with Free Practice 1 at 14:30 WIB, followed by Sprint Qualifying at 18:30 WIB. Saturday, October 10, features the Sprint at 15:00 WIB and Qualifying at 19:00 WIB. The Singapore Grand Prix then takes place on Sunday, October 11, starting at 18:00 WIB.
Marina Bay remains one of the most physically demanding circuits on the F1 calendar. The 4.927-kilometre layout and its low-speed characteristics place a strong emphasis on rear grip and traction, while the heat and humidity can cause drivers to lose as much as 3kg of body weight during the race.
The weekend also arrives with the championship battle developing further. Kimi Antonelli leads by 84 points after the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, while George Russell faces a grid penalty in Singapore despite being the 2025 pole-sitter and race winner. Max Verstappen also arrives with momentum after winning in Malaysia, although Singapore remains one of the circuits where he has yet to claim victory.
From a strategy perspective, track evolution is expected to be significant throughout the weekend, with potential rainfall capable of changing grip levels between sessions. Pirelli expects a one-stop strategy to remain the preferred option, while the soft compound could see greater use because of the Sprint format and the latest generation of cars' stronger performance on softer tyres.
With Sprint Qualifying and the Sprint adding competitive pressure to the schedule, every session carries direct implications for grid position and race strategy. Attention then turns to Sunday night's Race, which will decide the outcome of Round 17 of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
