The Superpole session at the Nicolo Bulega-led 2026 Estoril WorldSBK penultimate round has captured the intense attention of the entire paddock. The newly crowned champion arrived on Saturday as the undisputed fastest rider from Friday, topping both practice sessions despite openly admitting that he still feels there is more margin to find in his machine.
Behind the dominant championship leader, Alberto Surra delivered an eye-catching performance by securing the second-fastest time in both sessions yesterday. Although he utilized a fresh set of tyres to achieve that impressive lap time, his raw pace signals a genuine threat for the front row grid. Meanwhile, Iker Lecuona rounded out the top three overall as the countdown ticked down to the 11:15 local time Superpole start.
Honda enjoyed a productive day on track as Jake Dixon worked his way firmly into the top ten positions. Further down the garage, his teammate continued integrating data and riding techniques gathered during his recent MotoGP stint filling in for Joan Mir at Motegi. Over in the BMW camp, Miguel Oliveira enjoyed a much-improved outing by finishing fourth fastest overall in front of his enthusiastic home fans.

The Portuguese star explained that his crew had to implement significant setup changes during the afternoon to fine-tuning his overall front-end feeling on the bike. He also pointed out that managing the front tyre selection this weekend presents a notably delicate situation that every team must navigate carefully. This strategic tyre dilemma is expected to play a massive role when the lights go out for Race 1 later this afternoon at 15:30.
Further down the pit lane, the fierce battle for third place in the championship standings intensified as Yari Montella outpaced his direct rivals during the second practice session. The Italian contender has a realistic chance of securing the championship bronze medal this weekend, provided he can extend his points gap by the end of Sunday. His exceptional weekend also featured a miraculous near-crash save during the morning practice that left onlookers astonished.
