Round 10 of the World Superbike championship at the Estoril circuit immediately delivered intense action from the moment the lights went out on Saturday. Nicolo Bulega proved his caliber as the 2026 world champion with a truly dominant performance. The Italian rider did not ease up his pace despite having mathematically clinched the world title in Cremona two weeks ago. His convincing victory in the Estoril Race 1 pushed his championship lead even further out at the top of the standings.
The dominance of the Borgo Panigale manufacturer was further emphasized as Iker Lecuona successfully crossed the finish line right behind the race winner. This maximum points haul meant Bulega's gap over his teammate stretched back out to a comfortable 138 points. The battle at the front once again showcased how the Ducati package remains the primary benchmark for raw speed and stability through Estoril's technical corners.
Meanwhile, a different kind of drama unfolded in the battle for the top three positions in the standings involving Yari Montella. The Barni Spark Racing rider endured a tough Saturday race, managing to salvage only an eighth-place finish. This difficult result meant his deficit to Lecuona grew to 212 points. Nevertheless, his hold on third place in the championship remains relatively secure for now, holding a 40-point cushion over his closest pursuer behind him.

Further down the order, a fierce contest brewed in the mid-pack as British riders fought to extract maximum potential from their machinery. Alex Lowes had to settle for a fifth-place finish, keeping him fourth in the overall standings. However, he still maintains a strong 40-point gap to third place, needing to claw back 23 points across tomorrow's two races to secure the position before the season finale at Jerez.
Things proved even more challenging for his brother Sam Lowes, who could only manage an eleventh-place finish in Race 1. This meager points return leaves him trailing Alex Lowes by 13 points for fourth overall, while sitting only 21 points ahead of Lorenzo Baldassarri in sixth, setting up a high-stakes battle for the remaining races of the weekend.
