The 2026 British Grand Prix Sprint takes place today, Saturday July 4, at Silverstone Circuit. It is the fourth Sprint event of the 2026 Formula 1 season and marks the return of the shorter race format to Silverstone for the first time since the inaugural F1 Sprint in 2021.
The Sprint race is scheduled to start at 12:00 BST local time in the United Kingdom. For viewers in the United States, that converts to 07:00 ET and 04:00 PT.
Lewis Hamilton will start the Sprint from pole position after setting the fastest time in Sprint Qualifying. The Ferrari driver beat Kimi Antonelli by just 0.011 seconds, while Max Verstappen qualified third for Red Bull Racing.

That starting order makes the opening phase of the Sprint particularly important. Hamilton has the advantage of clear track from the front row, but Antonelli and Verstappen are close enough to apply immediate pressure from the first corner.
Silverstone also presents a distinct technical challenge because its high-speed corners demand aerodynamic stability, tyre control and efficient energy deployment. The teams able to maintain balance across the short stint will have the best chance of either holding position or attacking late in the race.
After the Sprint, attention will immediately shift to the main British Grand Prix qualifying session later on Saturday. The Grand Prix itself follows on Sunday July 5, making today one of the decisive phases of the Silverstone race weekend.
