George Russell will start the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix from pole position after setting the fastest time in qualifying at the Red Bull Ring. The starting grid remains provisional until officially confirmed by the FIA.
The Mercedes driver retained pole position after being cleared following a yellow flag investigation triggered by Max Verstappen's Q3 crash. Charles Leclerc will line up alongside him on the front row, with Ferrari team-mate Lewis Hamilton starting third.
Championship leader Kimi Antonelli will start fourth, while Max Verstappen is set to line up fifth after crashing on his final qualifying lap. Verstappen's grid position could still change should Red Bull make substantial changes to his car before the race.
Lando Norris heads the McLaren challenge from sixth, one place ahead of team-mate Oscar Piastri. Racing Bulls placed Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad inside the top 10, while Pierre Gasly leads Alpine's charge from 11th.
With Mercedes and Ferrari locking out the first two rows, the Austrian Grand Prix is set for an intriguing battle from lights out, particularly with Verstappen facing a recovery drive from fifth at Red Bull's home event.
