A remarkable display of resilience saw Reece Barr and his 2 Seas Motorsport teammates clinch the Bronze Cup class victory at the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup finale in Portimao, Portugal. Starting dead last from the very back of the grid, the team orchestrated a sensational comeback to secure the top step of the podium after three hours of intense racing.
Piloting the #222 Mercedes-AMG, Reece Barr shared driving duties with British racers Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss. The trio executed a flawless strategy that propelled the car all the way up to 13th place overall when the checkered flag dropped at the end of the endurance thriller.
Reflecting on the triumph, the 25-year-old Irishman shared his thoughts with Motorsport Week, describing the result as an unforgettable conclusion to their racing campaign.

"An unbelievable end to our year," Reece Barr stated regarding the dramatic victory.
"After a mega opening stint by Charles he handed me the car in a strong position. When I got in, I knew we were within striking distance of the lead, so I had one goal. I drove what I’d say was one of the most intense stints of my career, fighting my way to the front and then defending the lead for 50 minutes straight."
He further emphasized the collective effort of the crew under high-pressure conditions on the track, praising everyone involved for keeping their composure from the first practice session until the final moments of the race.
"I couldn’t be prouder of the job we all did as a team this weekend. To turn things around from last to first and finish our season on the top step is an incredible feeling. It’s never over till it’s over."
The Portimao weekend drew unprecedented global attention due to high-profile crossovers from other motorsport disciplines. Four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen made his series debut, driving a sister Mercedes machine and sharing a garage setup alongside Reece Barr's squad before finishing ninth overall.
Meanwhile, nine-time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi also lined up on the competitive grid. Despite running into early car troubles that disrupted his initial rhythm, Valentino Rossi managed to complete another full season of GT racing action.
Sharing the paddock environment with such legendary names added a unique dynamic to the weekend, which Reece Barr noted was a massive positive for the championship's visibility.
"Having Max in the garage with us is definitely a cool feeling, and it’s exciting to see it bring more eyes to the sport," Reece Barr concluded.
